Richard has degrees in Economics (University of Cambridge) and Business Studies (University of Wales) and extensive experience as a Project Manager, consultant and Senior Operational Manager in both public and private sectors. Richard has been a partner in CRG since 1988 and has worked on many high-profile surveys, policy studies, reviews and evaluations for government departments and agencies including DfES, Home Office, HM Prison Service, a number of local authorities, the WDA, TECs, Welsh Office/National Assembly for Wales, and IiP (UK) Ltd. He has either lead or contributed to several Youth-related projects for DfES and others, including evaluating the Learning Card Demonstration Projects and Connexions Card Pathfinder Projects, identify reasons for early leaving from Modern Apprenticeships, evaluating innovative programmes to promote vocational training amongst Year 9/10 schoolchildren, and review Education-Business Partnership performance. He has authored a range of research studies and articles, contributed to UK government policy development seminars and worked on a wide range of learning-related initiatives and reviews. As a consultant, he has also worked with a wide range of public and private sector organisations to promote better individual, team and organisational skills development and performance. |   |

Andrew is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with over 25 years of research and evaluation experience. After graduation he conducted research into Interpersonal Skills at the University of Bradford Management Centre prior to work experience in Personnel and Management Services in the steel industry. After 14 years as a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Relations and Management Studies at University College, Cardiff and latterly at the Cardiff Business School, he became a founding partner of CRG in 1988. At Cardiff University he was an assistant dean of faculty and chaired the Joint Careers Service Committee. Since then he has undertaken many research and evaluation assignments and published widely on learning, skill and information needs, organisation change and many linked topics. He project manages more than £350k worth of projects each year, both large and small and mainly in the public sector. He also acts as an organisational change consultant to a number of private sector clients as well as advising organisations on survey techniques and communications strategies. He was the manager of the CPD for Graduates Programme from 1999 to 2003, working closely with the WDA, ELWa and the HEFCW. His recent project management experience includes the evaluation of summer Plus and Positive Activities for young People on behalf of the DfES, the national evaluation of Performance Review and the National Review of the Staff Individualised Record for the LSC and the preparation of a data bulletin to inform the Committee of Inquiry into Police Discipline for the Home Office. He has recently mapped data on oversight of the police for the IPCC. |

MARK BEYNON joined CRG after three years working as Senior Policy Advisor at the Wales European Centre in Brussels. During this period he was also employed by the Welsh HE sector to Project manage the set up a new Welsh Higher Education Brussels office. A graduate of Aberystwyth (B.Sc. International Relations, M.Sc. International Politics), he has an extensive track record in the provision of policy, funding and project development expertise to public sector organisations. Previous appointments include work as Senior EU Development officer at the National Museums & Galleries of Wales, and Principal European Officer at Newport CBC. Mark holds a PRINCE 2 Qualification in Project Management and is also a fluent Welsh speaker. |   |

Deborah is an Occupational Psychologist and highly experienced researcher. She has broadly-based experience of publicly-funded training and community support programmes, processes and support services, drawn from throughout the UK and more widely. In addition to research and evaluation assignments she has undertaken a wide-range of human resource development activities. Her experience includes coaching, counselling, stress management, training needs analysis, training delivery, design implementation of outplacement programmes and career management. She has recently been involved in developing and delivering an interview skills course for the Community Safety Unit (WAG); the recent Women into Management Programme and Beyond the Borderline Programme (Skillfast-UK), which aims to enable a step change in Welsh business performance and productivity via the delivery of key skills to managers in the apparel, footwear and textile sector to engage successfully in the international economy (Skillfast-UK). The research and training she has undertaken has brought her into contact with a range of sectors and professional institutions that vary widely in their approach to organisational change and continuous professional development. |

CHRISTIAN TIPPLES has a degree in Applied Chemistry (Cardiff University), PhD in Physical Chemistry (Cardiff University) and an MBA (Cardiff Business School). He has six years of technical research experience and prior to undertaking his MBA, Christian spent two years working in the Research and Development department of a large multinational corporation as a senior member of staff. Christian has undertaken a wide range of projects for CRG including Mid-Term Evaluation Updates for European Structural Funds including Objective and Interreg funding (WEFO); Evaluation of the Workforce Development Programme (DELLS); Research into Diversity in the Logistics Sector in Wales (Skills for Logistics);Evaluation of the Accelerate Wales Programme dealing with the automotive sector (DEIN); and an Evaluation of Rural Programmes in Wales\\\' concerned with initiatives such as Leader+ and Rural Community Action funds (WDA). |   |

Richard Self graduated from Cardiff University with a MSc (Econ) in Social Science Research Methods, and also has a BSc Hons in Psychology and Sociology from Plymouth University. Prior to joining CRG Richard worked as an independent research consultant for six years. Richard is an experienced interviewer and has worked with a wide range of clients from the education, voluntary and statutory sectors. Richard has worked on a range of projects both as an independent researcher and as a member of CRG, e.g. running focus groups with young people and professionals, market research for voluntary sector organisations, working with hard to engage clients such as disaffected young people, one-to-one interviewing at policy and project delivery levels, and impact assessment. Current CRG projects that Richard is participating in are PAYP for the DfES, an evaluation of an activity focused programme to engage young people at risk of social exclusion and involvement in crime; an evaluation of the impact of cluster based learning networks for CITB ConstructionSkills Wales; a mapping project looking at professionals working within the construction industry in Wales for Construction Industry Council in Wales; and Raise Your Game, a NAfW/BBC Wales informal learning project to inspire and encourage the take-up of key skills through the use of sporting role models via a sports-based website. |
